Gargoyles and gravity

After diligent training assisted by my helpfull master, Duradel has finally decided it was my turn to try my hand at slaying gargoyles. Gargoyles are stone statues come to life and they can hurt a person badly! It is very satisfying when you take a good swing with your rockhammer and see them shatter before your eyes :-) One thing got me wondering though, if those garloyes are made of solid stone, how can those small wings of theirs keep all that weight hovering free in the air while they are fighting?
